2020 Individual Tax Filing Date – May 17, 2021

The Internal Revenue Service has announced that it will extend the 2020 individual tax filing due date from April 15, 2021 to May 17, 2021. This will grant taxpayers an additional month to file their 2020 returns. The decision to extend was created in order for taxpayers to have more time to complete their tax returns due to complications generated from the COVID-19 pandemic. This extension of the tax return due date only applies to individual filings and does not extend the due dates for C-Corporations or Trusts.  Another thing to note is that the due date for 1st quarter 2021 estimated tax payments has not been extended and will remain due April 15, 2021.

California has conformed with the Federal extension of the individual 2020 tax filing deadline and will also extend its individual filing deadline to May 17, 2021.

If there are any more changes to the due dates, we will update you accordingly.
